2012 Dirt 100: E*Thirteen LG1+
There was a time when chain devices were almost Meccano– like in appearance, and it has to be said they were mostly a nightmare. Things have moved on though, designs have evolved, and now we’ve got to the point where we have this LG1+ which is so good we can’t see how it can be improved, and neither it seems can e*thirteen because the design has remained the same for a few years now.
What makes it so good? Well, first and foremost it’s faultless in its ability to keep a chain on. Secondly the substantial ‘taco’ bash guard can withstand some serious impacts and does a great job in protecting everything else.
And finally, but by no means least is its user friendliness. It’ll fit pretty much any bike and it really is a pleasure to work with. We never thought we’d say that about a chain device, but this beauty has proved us wrong. Long may it stay this way.

One of the best bits of kit I’ve ever used! What they don’t mention above is the wide angle of entry/exit the guides have- ideal for 10 speed.
would anyone wanna swap a LG1+ black 36-40 iscg 05 for a 32-36 iscg 05 ?? don’t mind what colour. Cheers
The srs+ is worth the extra weight for the bash gaurd.
worst product on my bike, massively overhyped for being fashionable IMO. First, when the brittle plastic started cracking for no reason i was told by e-thirteen that i was using the wrong chain oil, which caused the cracking. Second, how is it possible to make a super-simple thing like a chain guide so bloody fiddly!? It doesnt need to be!
I think you are doing something wrong Tom as I’ve had them on my last 5 or 6 bikes with no problems whatsoever and so have nearly all my friends.
The old ones were great, but the newer ones definitley seem brittle. And who the hell designs a chain guide that isnt compatible with certain brands of oil???
