Dirt 100 2010: CONTOUR HD HELMET CAMERA
Media is so much more accessible nowadays and the rise of the helmet camera has finally come with wire–free models, no more faffing about with cables and backpacks. We had the previous incarnation of the contour cam and found it to be of really high quality, then they brought out the HD cam, the only one of its kind at present, and we are really impressed with the image quality. Our web guy has used this camera plenty of times, and whilst it isn’t the cheapest it does offer the best quality images. Now available in full HD-1080p (1920×1280).

this is a nice cam!
Quality is good. goggle mount is good. i think the vented helmet mount is rubbish.
The new GoPro HD is miles better – Clearer picture & more stable when the going gets rough. The GoPro also works better in low-light situations too, where the Contour footage just goes black the GoPro will keep on working.
you forget that the gopro has an wideangle also so more overview
but still it is a good sign that these small cams are inovating so we can use this hd on the web en just for fun
One thing I do like about the Contour HD is the lasers that make alignment much easier.
One disadvantage of the GoPro is that, frankly, it looks fooking ridiculous.
its rubbish.. i got given one and selling it.. no mounts work.. the velcrow sticky helmet pad is so tuff it actually busted the camera outer casing trying to get it off the helmet pulling a screw stripping its thread. Also the fittings are rubbish. I have found no way to stop it wobbling in its mounts with out using glue and im not going to do that. Turning it on and off is a massive sliding switch on the top that dust got under and now gritty feeling.. its so tuff you really need to use both hands.. and if you have carefully lined it up in a frame or handle bar mount.. you can easily move its position just trying to turn record on.. Also the click sound of turning on the record is so loud that if after filming you listen thru hi-fi speakers you get a massive pop every start and end of clip.
I would avoid buying it and im going to sell mine after 2 uses and get a go pro.. with wide angle.. and useful mounts.
who cares what it looks like.. its has to work at this price..
o yeah.. after one days use in the woods and i had to remove the camera lens PLASTIC as fine dust had got behind it in a few hours and most of the filming was a bit blurred due to it.
its hard to tell when your chip is full and battery dead.. so i lost footage i thought i had recorded.
and on top all this the the goggle mount is total rubbish.. wobbling all over..
as you can tell one disappointed user…
