SCHWALBE HANS DAMPF VERTSTAR
We like the way that Schwalbe are tackling the tyre market, for example they’re brave enough to put their neck out and risk the introduction of 650b tyre options across their range, showing that they are looking to move with the times.
The Hans Dampf reflects that innovative approach and features a dual compound sidewall which effectively gives the tyre increased damping ability. It’s a claim that we were dubious of at first, but it really does work. The flexier upper part of the sidewall allows the tyre to flex and mould around obstacles whilst the tougher part ensures good pinch flat protection isn’t sacrificed. With three different compounds available there is also scope for these to be used on an array of bikes, making them a serious threat to the High Roller’s dominance of the all-round hard riding tyre market.
