Blenkinsop and Atherton fastest Leogang Qualifiers:Full Results

Sam Blenkinsop and Rachel Atherton put the markers down by going fastest in qualifying today at UCI World Cup round #3 in Leogang, Austria.

Minnaar was quickest on the first two splits but Blenkinsop made a ton of time up on the bottom wood section to nail a 4:03.25 just 0.21 ahead of Minnaar. Aaron Gwin showed his intentions for tomorrows final by stopping the clock 4:06.79 for 3rd. Matti Lehikoinen has clearly got his bike running sweet after yesterdays big slam by qualifying in 4th spot.

  1. Yeah Sam!.. good effort.. brendan’s in the top 10 too, hopefully he can up his came tomorrow, he seemed to have a much worse first spliut than i would have expected of him.

  2. Nick Beer was 4th at the splits but must have binned it a couple of times to finish way out the back.

  3. great to see lehikoinen up there again, hopefully he’s managed to shake off his bad luck!

  4. lew buchanan qualifies again. Lets hope he wipes the floor in the juniors

  5. Yes simmonds you animal!!!!!

  6. insane result from simmonds he totally desreves it

  7. great to hear manon killing the other juniors, wonder where she would have come without the crashing!

  8. Matthew siiimonds, im your biggest fan!

  9. Go on simspeed…Whats up with peaty this year???

  10. yeah I was wondering about that about Manon too… fingers crossed for another top ten tomorrow!

Billy – any idea if Jess is ok – must’ve been bad if she DNF’d, she’s not one to give up. Cheers.

  11. What’s happening to Peaty’s performance?

  12. Less training I heard, can’t remember what he was doing over the winter (something to do with world champs promotion or something like that), but it took time out of his training schedule… so I heard, who knows if that is correct.

  13. He’s just not in shape – he cut down his training during the winter while every one else stepped it up big time. Plus, he never performed well on roughed-up rooty tracks (eg. Schladming).

  14. @Emily I heard she had a big slam, I’ll try and find out if she’s okay.

  15. Matti Lehioken in 4th, back in the mix. Impressive after that hairy crash in practice, where he nearly wrote off a tree!

  16. hopefully peaty does better

  17. 21 brits in the top 80 (if I have counted correctly). Thats over a quarter of all the qualifiers!

  18. troy dominated buchanan…. again

  19. @tom&james, buchanan had a slow flat from the second corner, and all the other scots would have smashed troy had they not had bad luck at the bill

  20. stop bitchin and fook off to pinkbike

  21. where is bryceland – i dont see him anywhere!

  22. Yeah Simmonds!

  23. Miami was in 24th dude, not bad, gud 2 c Bryn Atkinson in 8th as well. Must b luvin the transition. That bike rules down steep techy shit. :D
Goin bk on2 Peaty tho, he’s doin shit at the mo but i wouldn’t count him out 4 worlds tho (if injury free), cause he luv’s that track and its at the end of the season so he should b up 2 fitness again by then.

  24. is steve peat on his final victory lap of the world cup series? It seems things have been less then ideal for him so far.

  25. 24th

  26. @Christo : haha, that’s like saying “i’d've won if I hadn’t fallen off”… no shit sherlock! but they didnt did they, and that’s racing!

  27. Just noticed theres a guy called Max Bender, fnar fnar

  28. Peaty still killing it I see

  29. Yeah blinki. Lets hope he can take out the win soon.
