“Im excited ” really, you dont sound it
I wish Brendan wouldn’t keep talking over the interesting conversation taking place next to him out of shot.
I get the impression that promoting the bike is part of his contract.
I’m sold
Dont get me wrong I like Brendan but he really doesn’t come across well here. Anyone would think that he doesnt like his new bike or that he has any clue about the changes that have been made. A complete contrast to the Nico Vid from the other day!!!
woaw he sounded stoked!!!!!! but on a seriouse note wtf chear up lad
Chill out guys. Not everyone is a PR star like Barel, and not everyone is such tech guy like Nico. If bike companies would sponsor guys for their “speech-ability” and “bullshitability” over their riding skills, we would have whole cast of The Apprentice in the World Cup with Sir Alan instead of Martin Whiteley…
You had me at hello!
Waki your completely right but he could have at least read the spec and rattled some of that off, and a smile costs nothing. Even great riders need to learn to be able to do PR to a level.
The guy is feeling pretty ill at the moment so chill out guys , he did well to come out for the demo day
I think Sam Hill has no PR skills what so ever and Brendan is following suit. Personally it just makes them less marketable as professional athletes and yes sponsorship does revlove around money and bike sales, its not just a hand out to talented riders. Cedric Gracia is a perfect example of how “flair” in the camera earns you long term sponsorship deals. I would be lead to believe he is earning as much as some of the top 5 becuase he is clever enough to realise that a big personality is almost as important as your WC rank.
A thing is: many of top guys are simple people, who chose to ride the bike instead of going to school. They are were they are now, just because they chose so and committed to it. Whether it was a right choice or not, we’ll find out when they turn 40. Another sure thing is, they better improve their “mediability” ASAP, as life clock is ticking and you have to get some living after the career. But that’s the problem of every single pro athlete.
and the third thing is: biking is not all that it is to life and maybe some of them are good in other stuff, maybe Brendan is a hacker, hurricane plumber, master of frying pan or he invests in collectibles. At the end of the day, no matter the occupation it’s all about contacts: you know lots of people, somebody will help you
Comon guys, Specialized do not need any more PR men. Brendan and Sam were hired because they ride bikes better than anyone else… and they let that do the best part of the talking
WAKi is wise. Agree with your take. Hopefully they are wise with their money. securing a future is tricky these days. As far as this promo, you can’t be “on” every time.
Nah, I thought he came across as very serious, not gushing all over it, just saying it the way it is. Pro enough I think.
There are enough videos of Brendan all over the internet with a silly grin on his face after yet another great run with a few whips in it for us to know that he is stoked to be riding this thing.
Crikey, what a dud, specialized should not have let that vid out. Excite? nope. May as well have Ned Overend introduce the new DH bikes.
It was early in the morning, pissing down and Brendan had been riding up and down until nightfall the previous day for Sven’s entry into the Saint photo challenge. He was bloody knackered! But do an A Line lap with him on a sunny day and it would be hard to find a more fun guy to ride with.
you will find that some of the fastest racers in downhill motox moto gp or formula 1 are really chilled out and quite, they seem to have some kinda zen thing going on or some shit. they save it for the track and unleash or i could be talking complete shit
its just how Brendan is but, if you could mix Brendan with the stem licking Adam Brayton you’d have the perfect rider, PR, track talker, big whipper and general minter.
Dave – REALLY… REALLY REALLY?!
Perfect PR rider… and Adam Brayton mentioned in the same breath?
Nico V and Fabian B I would have agreed with you, but Adam Brayton?! what are you smoking?
pure shite
Brendog is going to have to win a world cup race before I care what he thinks.
lol, what!?
What a requirement
God you guys are all losers, the guy is obviously tired in this video. He appears to be doing the filmer a favour at least he is trying to give some information.
If you ever see Brendan being interviewed he is always postive and happy, I also think he is a good speaker. Over on Pinkbike he is talking about the new demo and he does a better job. Give the guy a break. Its not all about marketing I like the fact that he is genuine and not all full of puff like some american bullshiter. Is that what you want? some guy giving a polished sales pitc?, as some guy said above what you guys want is beige. At the end of the day he is a young guy and would smoke all you guys at his profession – Bike riding. – as for Adam Brayton at least he is having a laugh, he is a colourful character who provides some entertainment. You losers are all just negative probably cos you stuck in a house with a horrible wife and a mortgage or you are just unhappy.
Give the guy a break.
If Brendan feel the attention is too much and doing interviews is below him, then he needs to re-evaluate his notoriety. Every time Brendan is in a position to win a race he sh*ts the bed. All season long he’s had courses that favor him, but he’s constantly fumbling through roots sections and dabbing his feet down. leogang, champery, val di sol, maribor… he’s done a great job, but he’s certainly not living up to the image he has in his head.
who gives a shit about PR skills brendan sam and troy promote the bike well enough when they are racing, so just man up and stop being so bloody picky about stupid shit like that. by the way i had the 2010 demo and it rode like a bag of shit
I might go and cheer myself up by jumping off a 20 storey building! geeze boring….
Has this been removed or is the vid link just broken- surely your making it worse if you dont pull the whole article?
Just watched it- fairly typical Brendog! Think he was distracted by someone messing and kicking his bike about just off camera- strange noises from that area as though some twat was messin!
