Cedric Gracia & Simon André on 29ers
Cedric Gracia giving his Santa Cruz Tallboy 29er some full helmet.
Now I reckon the Gracia might just rock up to the first round of the World Cup at Pietermaritzburg on a 29er. I know the Tallboy is only 100mm travel but CG seems to be going full chat in this vid and a 29er does suit PMB. And remember 2011 when Cedric rocked up with his seat dropper and claimed 4th place in qualifying. The next minute everybody was running dropper posts.
What do you reckon?

no chance.
I don’t mind about them wheels.
O’Neil swapped CG with Minnar? Good deal I reckon.
Now chance he’ll ride that in a DH reach..
How can you even compare that track to Pietermaritzburg? They were just riding on a XC track with a couple of small jumps..
56″ wheels would roll even better. I hate those bikes.
whats with all the clown bikes on here at the mo?
Man the bike companys really are pushin 29er bikrs on to us at every oppourtunity. Same in road circles, they are pushin cyclocross bukes hard
@SKor with that logic surely the ultimate downhill bike is a penny farthing.
Do maxxis make a 60″ x 1″ tyre?
looks rad as fook…. what`s the bitching about..??
Xc track… small jumps..? …….. ev.. u r a pleb…
Ev is right that was an xc track but then again so is most of Pietermaritzburg once that short top bits over.
Sick vid. It doesn’t make me want to go and buy a 29er though, or go on da webz and moan about 29er, it just makes me wanna ride my bike…
Fook me talk about wagon wheels. they look all wrong . only one place 29″ wheels belong is in the Circus with Coco the clown.
London eye anyone.
@vondh- being seen on a 29er is ONLY cool while wearing a clown nose!
i don’t know why you guys are bashing the living daylights out of 29. they may not be for every situation, but they sure as hell rip in other situations… it is a part of our growing sport. im for progression. btw, the tallboy is a beast. period.
29ers are fine for xc. Having been part of the whole “29ers are gay” brigade I’ve since ridden a few and just ordered one as a result for use as my xc rig. Not sure about for proper downhill tough
29″ wheels are totally w@nk!
Bike companies are just taking the piss, get us to buy new frames, wheels, tyres etc to go with this 29″ crap, then after a couple of years the new standard 27.5″ will be out and we’ll have to go through all this piss again,
how about making a bike and components that last for a good few years with more scope for adjust-ability to keep up with new trends.
Its bad enough paying between 3 and 6 grand for a high end bike only to find out that next years version has a revised rear end as the current one was to flexible etc………….thanks bike companies, that must mean my current bike is gash!
now i’m just ranting!
I would be curious and this could be interesting but…
29er + 100 mm + this -> http://www.cedricgracia.com/web_news/2011/news_270411.jpg
No f***ing way !
Don’t like this vid, they mucked around with the slo mo so much I couldn’t get a sense of how fast they were riding at all, and then they label the riders the wrong way around?
Oh..
My…
Gawd….
Really? I mean Really?
I just don’t understand how some of you guys can be so narrow minded. The bike companies are offering A CHOICE… which by definition is something YOU choose to buy if you want. They aren’t stopping making 26″ wheels, they are just giving those riders that are open minded enough to actually try something different a go if they want. Your bike isn’t instantly sh!t just because a company evolves their designs and experiments with different concepts. If bike companies didn’t do this then we’d still be riding round on bikes that needed their rear drum brakes re greasing every time you stopped at the bottom of a slight decline having been barely able to stop using your front cantilever brake whilst using your thumbshifter to select one of your 5 gears.
29ers aren’t meant (at the moment) to do 40ft one handed doubles. They aren’t designed to compete at world cup DH races. They ARE meant to go out and ride what quite honestly the majority of riders do – trail riding. And guess what, if you get on with it then they are great. If however you don’t get on with it… DON’T EFF’ING BUY ONE!!! It’s your damn choice if you want one, and my choice if I want one.
possibly the least stylish riding in a CG vid ever.
right there 29ers fail!
I Couldn’t GAF what’s faster/newer in videos, just what looks better.
oh.. and that ugly riding kit ruined it too
Spot on Big_Tim. Not spot on openminded. Can just imagine your comment being said in some bitchy, fashionista, effeminate voice, like that hideous Louie Spence or maybe the equally repulsive Gok Wann!!! ‘I couldn’t GAF what’s faster/newer in videos, just what looks better. oh.. and that ugly riding kit ruined it too’. You should stick to commenting on the OK! or Heat websites, where that sort of thing matters more!
Lets face it, you could have stuck a set of cowy handlebars on a carbon road bike and CG would make it look stylish. Agree with previous post – it’s getting pushed big time at the moment.
Just a fad and 29ers won’t make an impact on the DH WC scene can you really imagine it, this is just a bit of Santa Cruz marketing !
get back to heat mag haters!!! hahaha cg probably rides his 29″ tallboy faster down a hill than all the haters on their 26″ karpiel with monster t’s
p.s this isnt santa cruz marketing, its a teaser for a mtb film called 29rocks
What is 29″ anyway? is it the same as road bike wheels? If it is that would be cool for a hardtail training bike, you could hit up a trail centre at weekend then switch to wheels with road rims and tires for mid week training. But I don’t think it is so I’m out.
Lets face it. If Gracia turns up at PmB on a 29″ and wins, everyone and their wife will be all over it like a rash. I think a 100mm travel is a bit slim, even for PMB, but when a 140-160mm travel 29″ bike appears that will be a dh demon on more pedally tracks and possibly others too
I cant understand why people are so against 29″, bmx’s are 20″, and whats wrong with them?
I agree its an extra choice. most people are slagging 29″ bikes, in the mai I imagine without riding one.
NB – Gracia’s kit and helmet in this vid are barf. if Gracia see’s this, please, please change your get up.

Jones what forks are they ?
I’m riiich as fuck, so I have every bike known, including a rad “gentleman’s bike”, with a low banana seat, no pedals, an ashtray and my servant follows me in the Rover.
Carbon Trek 9.9? Why the fuck not? SC Tallboy? Having at it. Spec Stumpy EVO? Killer bike, but I hang one on the wall just to look at and have another for riding.
Hating on choice is for poor people.
My guess is that within the next couple of years, we’ll see the first downhill 29er at the world cup in Pietermaritzburg.
Hi there this is kinda of off topic but I was
wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually
code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
