Dirt 100 2011: Shimano AM45
The previous incarnation of these SPD shoes was already the best of its kind, but Shimano have managed to make it even better this time around. It’s still the mud shedding king that it always was, and the fit, ankle protection, and stiffness are as good as ever, but now it has a new sole that has clearly been modelled on their flat pedal shoe. The result is increased grip both off the bike and on the pedals when not clipped in. They look like they’re built to last just as long as previous versions too, and we’ve got to say that we reckon the new stealthy black look is also an improvement on the slightly Storm Trooper–esque white finish of the old ones. They beat disco slippers any day.

awesome just got some today
nice!, good to see on this model they have made the toe area waterproof, the old design just let water in all the time, despite the big flap to keep everything dry. shame they are not bright white again though, even if they were a bugger to keep clean, they looked the dogs danglys
Just the best!
the old white dx’s are significantly better at shedding mud, the cleat in these sits to deep into the sole of the shoe and hence does not clear mud too well and does not clip in aswell as the old dxs. anyone thinking of buying these shouold 100% get the white dx shoes instead.
