Dirt 100 2011: Five Ten Impact
There’s little that needs to be said about these shoes, it’s all about the grip. Their ability to stick to a set of flat pedals is almost beyond belief. They’re so grippy that some people reckon they offer too much grip (Five Ten do now make shoes with less grip for dirt jumpers, etc.), but if your school of thought is that you can never have too much then these are really the only way to go. Yeah the styling might leave a little to be desired, but to be honest who cares when you’ve got a pair of shoes that perform like these do?

Best mtb shoes ever!!
Why does every review of these mention the styling? I think they look fine.
I mean, look at the Shimano 41s.
Does anybody have a clue where to get some sticky sole from 5.10 on the internet? Really.
Mx
Maximillian There was an article in dirt a couple of years ago about a company that i think was in Sheffield that would cover your skate shoes or any shoe for that in stealth rubber for about £25. A bit vague I know but hope i helped.
resoling is available here

Oh and as for the styling, the karver (which i use) is sexy as fook anyways
i love my impacts but the Vans Gravel have been very very good to me lately.
Have to agree with George, the looks are fine…but the shimano’s are fugly! 5/10 fo life!
Guys, thank you for the feedback, but I was referring to something else. 5.10 has kits of sole in their catalogue; this is what I am looking for. I want to do it by myself to save as much money as possible. As I don’t live in the UK and 25 quid is quite a lot for me, it doesn’t make too much sense to send shoes over to Britain just for a pricey resole. So, does anybody know a place where you can buy just the sole and do your own work on the shoes?
Thanks again,
Mx
Yep, top booties. just a shame that theyre £90 now. got mine for £60 last year.
say no more they are the legend
So which version is better for dirt jumpers?
I love everything about them apart from the fact that they I end up ripping holes in the soles after about 8months of riding. I’ve owned 3 pairs of these and am wondering if I should try something else next time around. Maybe I could cope with something less sticky for more durability.
