Dirt Magazine Covers 1 to 45
October 19th, 2009 @ 10:55 AM
Little bit of Dirt Magazine history here for you; the front covers from the very first issue in January 1997 with Paul Roberts on the cover down at Pinners Trails, Middlesex, up to number 45, May 2004 with a young(er) Josh Bryceland gracing the front.
If I get a bit more time I’ll add some info to each of the covers, in the meantime have a browse through.

hold on a minute Billy, what about issue 2? Nigel Stonebridge I think, could be wrong!
October 19th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
Soz Cheesy, jumped the gun a bit there. My library says it’s Gunther Vallant at the KTM snow downhill at Nauders ski resort in Austria, Nigel Stonebridge did go along as well to test the Vario (nice photo of him on page 39) Paul Bliss took the shot
(I’ll try and post up a photo of the Vario, looked like a mental bike!)

31 is Chris Kovarick!
His ride a few month later at Ft Bill was one of the best race runs i ever did see! +14 seconds win!

I was wrong there 31 is Kirkalde and 29 is said to be Kovarick!
October 19th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
I agree mistaken identity on the 29 cover is Ronning and not Kovarick as the mag said at the time! Well spotted above!
October 19th, 2009 at 8:32 pm

October 19th, 2009 at 10:37 pm
I wish they would sell the old mags on PDF file format or something. There were some older issues that I wanted, that they had run out of already. Hell, it wouldn’t cost them anything (besides labor to scan them in), and I’d be willing to pay cover price to get the info inside. Hey Dirt, how ’bout it?
October 19th, 2009 at 10:50 pm
Yep 42 is Ian Osborne at Hornton Hill
October 19th, 2009 at 10:55 pm
