Sounds like the first fully reliable and smooth air sprung travel adjustment, but the price is killing! 1100 quid… as Gaz says: that’s a good used bike!
They are pricey, but no more expensive than DH forks. You want a fork to do a job, which is control the front wheel. The value of that job is the same whether you’re riding a DH bike or AM bike so just because a DH fork has more travel shouldn’t mean that it justifies the higher price.
In some ways, the higher price of the Deville is more justified than for a DH fork. There isn’t another AM fork on the market that will likely perform as well as the Deville nor weigh as little; the Fox 36 Float weighs 2.2kg and is by far the lightest AM fork available, so in terms of substitutes, there aren’t any for the Deville. With DH forks, you could easily switch between say a Fox 40, RS Boxxer, Maz 888 etc and get similar performance and weight for all about the same money.
Defo this over the carbon revelation. Though it will be a couple hundret grams lighter.
@ geetee: 2011 Fox 36 Float will be under 2kgs when you cut your steerer (so its 50g max of increase), 2011 Fox 36 Talas will be 2110g. At the same time… mhm I will wait at least until 2012 to buy a used one

I think the servicing intervals required will have a big influence on who buys this fork. With my 36 Talas & 40′s I spend around £300 a year on servicing. I know that the Bos DH forks have way longer intervals than the 40RC2 hence why i’m going for one next. As for this £1100 Enduro fork, if it saves me money on servicing then i’m all for it.
PS: Fox bladder seals blow all the time, and having to top up the foam rings with float fluid every 10hrs is anoying.. I love em anyways.
bungalow bill, can’t you just turn you fork/bike upside down over night say so the foam seals soak up the oil? thats what i do anyway, not too much hassle.
this is why i don’t window shop. it would be nice on my future Nicolai Helius AM though
As DIRT said before “NEVER TRUST THE FRENCH” And if your that worried about wheight you should be reading MBUK! FOX 36 VAN either 160 or the new 180 with kashima coat is the way to go. Unless this fork comes with some of Nico’s DNA to shoot up it is not worth it.

Ive had an Idylle for almost a year and a half now nd it’s going better than ever – and showing no signs of needing a service.
I cant say the same for all my friend’s 40′s or Boxxers. If the Deville is anything like my Idylle’s, well then its well worth the cash.
Yes it’s a lot of money, I would prefer them costing cheaper as well, but compared to the competition, its worth the EXTRA cost.
tomyum – Fox 40′s don’t work like that.
If you want the lightest 160mm for it would be the Suntour Durolex and dont let the name fool you, they are fantastic forks since they are just a lighter mazzochi internal.
My Idylle RaRe is the best DH fork I have ever owned(and I have had the lot) and I am sure the new deville will be just as brilliant. Not one problem to date and with 2 year seal service intervals that is hard to beat. Cheap mass produced gear is not what this brand is all about. Top level performance with no compromise. If you want F1 performance at Nascar prices….sorry.
Bungalow bill how do you know your bos forks arnt going to cost you £300 every time you send them in for a service? even if you can find anyone that services them or has the parts for them? i know of 2 people that had the bos DH forks, for a few months and they both seized and couldnt get parts or get them serviced even from bos themselves.
if your worried about the new 36/40 fox cartridges blowing i wouldnt, the testing has been 20,000 full compressions on a dyno first (full bottom out every time) then they dyno’d a run of Justin Leov going down Maribor, logged the info onto the dyno tester and the cartridge went through 400 runs, after all that no cavitation at all! hmmmm its going to be reliable!

Smithers – The BOS forks might cost me, but after running Fox for the last 2 years I can honestly say that from what I have heard about BOS suspension I am looking forward to an upgrade.

Fox mhm… never owned a Fox, but I owned Marzocchi and RS, and never payed a single penny to anyone to service my fork, plus I never had tot change the seals and orings, plus never screwed up anything and my forks are running butter smooth with no probs.
So why Bungalow Bill do you pay so much money every year? is it truly so with Fox that you need to replace all seals every year? is it so hard to service a fox fork yourself? I am asking as Im considering a switch from RS Lyrik to Fox36… if it is so, then no way… I ain’t buying it… fit and forget that’s what I want.
Im sure there great , but think my Pikes are fine TBH.
before you all get too excited…i weighed this exact fork and it was no where near ‘under 2Kg’, it was around the 2.3kg mark…meaning it’s most definitely not the lightest fork in its class…although it still could well be the best performing.
les produits bos ne vallent pas ce prix…., les produits partent dans le commerce avec des defaults et on rapelle ca pdt l hiver…le non conforme devient conforme par pur amour de l argent, l esprit du vtt est bien loin dans cette entreprise….en tous cas bien loin du soit disant bos avec sa voiture de rallye sans budget equivalent dans sa categorie.
c est pas parceque rock shox vend de la merde en plastique, qu un bout d alu anodisé en rouge vaut de l or…et au moins sur un cane creek les reglages n inter agissent pas entre eux…
ne parlons pas des fourches, un mec qui met 1800 euros dans une fourche n admettra jamais qu il est decu…bon choix marketing les gars du sud!!!

Mine were delivered on Thursday, do they perform better than a push’d Fox 36? I would say yes, is it worth £1100? Hopefully. like previous comments I spent hundreds on my Fox’s, and I got fed up with it.
I would say the BOS fork perfomed out of the box better than a fork I have spent years tweaking. Only time will tell if the reliabilty is there, but if the quality is the same as the DH forks and motorbike units I think it should be.
TRC gimmick? It works, enduro racing you are sprinting off the line and want to get ahead it gives you that edge, tried a couple of sprints and there is a marked improvement.
Build quality is fantastic and service from R53 is second to none.
Perhaps it is the CCDB of forks?
Just weighed my two forks Fox claimed 2.36kg weighs 2.412kg, Bos claims sub 2.0kg weighs 2.098kg. Used my high tech digital kitchen scales
Obviously both maufactures claim dry weight ie no oil or lubes. Therefore expect your 2011 Fox’s to be around 100g heavier than claimed. And I got 159mm out of my BOS forks never got more than 150mm out of my Fox’s? Even when serviced by 3 independant companies or brand new.
Damn it!! I just spent my spare £1100 on 2 carbon rims! Bugger!
Well I’m really glad there’s some sense in this list of if s and buts. Deville owner you are correct with the measurement, our’s were in fact closer to 2.0kg than 2.3 what Ed has said above….its not such a big deal anyway, no one was complaining much when Gee won FW last week on possibly one of the heavier bikes. However more than all that, as a competition 160mm production fork there is no equal. You get what you pay for. I’ve spent a fair bit of time on the Deville and I’d certainly love to spend more time on them
Found a price for 2011 Talas RC2 36′s £919, £869 for the float. Maybe we should be questioning everybody’s pricing policy? Or everyones sanity in paying that much.
Well at least they have stopped snapping, spiking, blowing up or if they did work weighing a ton like they used to.

hey, just watched the movie and I’m really impressed. can anyone tell how does the deville differ from RS Lyrick or fox 36 in terms of stiffness and strength? what kind of leg diametere does deville use???

Not much difference they do flex a tiny bit more than my Fox’s but not in a bad way. Probably the same way the new Boxxer has a bit more give than the 40′s, 35mm V’s 40mm stanchion.
I had a big off on Thursday and the wheel gave but the fork was fine. Don’t know about the Lyricks as never rode them. The deville uses a 34mm stanchion, so definately stiffer than a 32 or a Pike/Reba. Hope that helps.
Just gone onto the BOS webshop, these are sitting at 800euros.

)… anyone know if the Deville can be reduced to 140mm travel?
devilles are available with 140mm travel from the bos website – and i should imagine r53.
