You boys smashed it with World Cup coverage and you’re doing it again in the off season. Immense!

we try our best Martinz!

There was me thinking it was all over until the World Cup. You just made my day with this post!

Enjoyed the clip but doesn’t live up the hype my opinion, camera angles not very inovative, all shot from static and the usual plethora of x-sport movie soundtrack tunes. Somebody please produce a film without mgmt in it somewhere please!!!!

I agree with you, I liked Made but it wasn’t the most amazing film, in my opinion we could learn a lot from BMX and Snow films, you know, Electronical and Knife Series still destroy anything produced by a MTB filmer.

I can’t agree Isaac. I’m not sure which BMX movie brings some more quality or WOWness in reference to MTB scene with i.e. Seasons. Tricks – well, MTB is not just about tricks, ofk you get better on BMX films. So far MADE hasn’t shown anything really more spectacular than some other bike movies from 2009.
Then the SNOW scene… well it’s much much muuuuuuuch bigger than MTB scene (hundreds of thousands in one snowpark in winter vs very few MTB thousands in the summer all over the world) so It’s ovious that the movie funds are way bigger. I believe that with budget of i.e.”That’s it that’s all” U could get some super production with i.e.Anthill films. Let’s wait for LifeCycles…

I had high hopes when I picked up MADE. Boy was I bummed when I watched it. Hopefully Mr. Swift is a better doctor than film maker. And this song has been used in like five different videos. Anyone ever heard about originality. I was stoked when I read in the latest DIRT that Callum will not be making another film.

nice little segment if a little bit short on the mtb side of things, but the looping (the music) in the transition from the mtbing to mxing was just horrible (the loop points were not the best to put it midly)

In my mind, is not a very good film: poor image quality, sad music in most of scenes and only a few races of 2009 season. A kind of strange mixture.

I cannot believe you guys are slating this, I think we need a bit of perspective! The intro is class and really sets the scene, and some of the shots in the mx seggy are pure quality. And once again, it’s completely free.

Guys, ease up on the hating. It’s not a big budget film, it’s made by a passionate bloke who is passionate about mountainbikes. I think he did a great job. If you want big budget epics then wait for Life Cycles and Follow Me.

It sounds like there’s a lot of guys in this thread that need to be stepping up to the plate and showing us what they can do with a camera. They clearly seem to know everything. I feel more video comps coming on…
February 9th, 2010 at 2:12 pm
If he did not spend as much as some of the other big budget companies than why did he charge the same amount for it that the big budget companies did. I’m not entirely hating I know it takes alot to produce anykind of film but come on. And to follow up on my point about song selection check out the LOCALS vid. Hear anything similiar?

Big Budget films are big budget because of the investment of sponsors… not because they charge more. I bet if you add up Callum’s time and cost of all the international trips the film probably cost him money even after all the sales.
Fair enough if you don’t like the pop music, I can see your point, but ease up on the hating…. It took Clay Porter/Alex Rankin a lot of films to get to the level they’re at now. To say you hope he never makes another film is just being a rude… no-one is forcing you to buy it.

Personally I thought it was a crackin wee vid, nice to see what the pros get up to in their off season, well filmed and put together. So what if the music isn’t the best it doesn’t really bother me, surely its all about the bikin

Winter – time for the mtb dvds to be caned good and proper and after the slo-mo boredom fests that are Barred for Life and Kranked Revolve (Yawn), I thought Made really hit the spot – I guess I’m more into the speed and rough and ready nature of a DH oriented film, rather than beautifully shot, yet monotonous images of hundreds of slo-mo backflips – If I have to be critical then I would say that the whole package is not quite as good as stuff by the Parkin’s or Sir Alex Rankin (who is though?), but it’s not far off, and as with all the best mtb films – it makes you want to get out and ride…

Fair enough Stu your right no one made me buy it. I guess we all should be happy that there are people like Callum making vid’s to help push our sport that I do love.

Also he is on his gap year, i think its a a really good film, especially as its not his profession and he hasn’t doing for years and years like Clay Porter or Anthill etc. Nice Vid really liked it

Absolutely loved this, really liked the way the scene was set at the beginning and was wicked to see a bit of MX too! Good job Callum. Not sure why all the bitchin’, the guys on MPORA love it: http://video.mpora.com/watch/cqjwJjOM7/

The Gents ripping on Made and using Snowboarding and BMX videos as a reference, is proving how little they know about “x-sport” videos.
Granted Callum is no where close to Anthill’s experience, I think he’s done well considering he’s a one man band, on a very limited budget.
For reference on excellent “X-sport” videography, look no Further than Taylor Steele (kinda older school) and Kai Neville’s (new school/young blood) surf videos. Its possibly the oldest “x-sport” and the most documented.

Kai’s preview to “Modern collective” one of the best ive seen in recent years and had a artistic flair to the video which sets it apart from the rest.

February 10th, 2010 at 1:32 pm
Excellent, loved the filming, loved the music, loved the riding, loved the South African vibe you got but without being too artsy, loved the way it got accross how fun riding bikes is. Keep up the good work.
February 10th, 2010 at 1:40 pm
Actually, I really do not like the fact, that Callum Swift is ’stealing’ music from snowboard movies such as Let’s Go Get Lost or Picture This. Otherwise, Made is quite good, but after watching trailer, I thought it’s gonna be a lot better.
February 10th, 2010 at 8:27 pm
FOFO2 was a hell of a lot better than this. So disappointed
February 11th, 2010 at 12:10 pm
I think FOFO is not very well, neither…

Love it, keep doing what you’re doing Swifty, we need more like this, getting sick of bullshit big money US stuff.
