UPDATE: UK Gravity Enduro Series back on for 2013!
Good news, Steve Parr has retracted his resignation and the 2013 series is back on!
UPDATE:
Steve Parr: “I have been completely overwhelmed by the responses of support and good will, I’m humbled by it to be honest.
The UK Gravity Enduro series, the 1st and only that has the right to the name, will be back in 2013, bigger better and stronger.
Get training you have been warned
”
Shortly after the final round of the 2012 Gravity Enduro series this weekend at Dyfi Forest, race organiser Steve Parr has stated that he will not be running the series in 2013.
By the sounds of the press release below Steve has had a difficult season beset with problems but Enduro racing is on the ascendance right now so the UK really needs somebody to step up to the plate and get a 2013 series up and running.
Who’s up for the challenge?
Here’s what Steve told us:
“It’s with much thought and sadness, that I have to inform you, I will not be organising UK Gravity Enduro in 2013.
There are several reasons, issues with title sponsor not paying their bill, horrendous timing at all but one round and My own personal situation.
I would like to thank all the sponsors and helpers from the past two fantastic years, but most of all the riders for believing in the series and putting it right up there with the best.
The format of proper “Enduro” in the UK is now moving nicely, with quite a few races and mini series in the pipeline + BC involvement, I look forward to seeing it grow even bigger than XC and DH in years to come.
I apologise to anyone effected by the issues with the series”
Regards
Steve Parr

Sad news, all the best of luck Steve.
On the flipside, apparently Si Paton mentioned something about organising an Enduro series, details to follow soon apparently?
Sorry to hear about Steve’s shitty year but I personally quite liked the natural split between XC and DH the way it was, better XC courses that challenge skills as well as fitness are all we really needed not the new fashionable race discipline of Gravity enduro trying to kill off both.
Not entirely sure I agree Mary, I think the bastard child still has a bright future ahead of it… hopefully the same won’t be said about Cross Country eliminator
Any more 1980′s female track athletes going to comment? I personally love the Enduro format. So much more time actually riding bike your bike rather than sat in an uplift queue, plus you get to descend on dh tracks too. It’s win win to me!
Bil, they’re hardly downhill tracks.
barney, I can’t speak for the tracks you ride but my local enduro loop is all DH tracks.
Haaai Billy no, I theenk dey harr tryeeng to TRIP you uuup.
Hopefulleee Simon Paton weel come to de rescue.
So who was the rubbish sponsor who wouldn’t pay up?
Really hope someone else can step up to the plate.
i heard there was going to be a national series organised with tag heur involved………
Nothing against Simon Paton, but for the sake of the monopolies commission I think he should stick to DH races and somebody else needs to step up to the Enduro plate.
I don’t understand the monopoly reference, as I sencerely doubt it’s a money making scheme, so having an experienced person run a series is only a good thing no?
I would love to see more cheaper single day enduro events (actually all events for that matter) £25 tops for a days racing. A weekend away can get a bit pricey these days.
Single day enduro events is a great idea. Remebering 5 stages is pretty difficult anyway. It totally levels the field. My missus will let me out for a day, but a weekend never goes down too well.
I can only think of positives to single day events!
Indeed. Racing (enduro, mx, dh) is on the decline IMO due to one thing. COST.
Enduro seems like a nice idea, but £60 + travel, accomodation etc. to ride ‘special’ stages at a trail centre i can ride any other day for free?
i quit racing DH cos getting on for £200 a weekend was just mental.
cheap and cheerful enduro races and you’d be beating people like me off with a shitty stick.
I’m totally up for single day enduro’s as long as there are still the full on weekender variety as well.. you just cant beat the amount and intensity of riding you get at the events that Steve organised!
Would love to see more single day events in the style of the Innerleithen Winter Series enduros – Well organised, decent timing, sweet tracks, £30ish entry fee. Ticks all the boxes for me.
Sad news. Just did dyfi round and thought it was awesome. Hope it happens next year.
Sorry to read that Steve is not running a series next year. Hats off to him and his team for starting a UK series. I know he has put in a hell of a lot of work to achieve what he has. Cheers Steve, Bud and the rest of your team
Fetish Bikes were the losers who wouldn’t pay up after being title sponsor for the whole series.
One day with no practiice is the way to keep costs down.
As most of te decent Enduros are a long way from the south of Englang one day enduros rule our lots of possible riders. Who’s going to drive 300 miles for one day of riding?
Steve had the format right and the races and atmosphere were great. Shame about Fetish, hope everyone boycotts them.
yeah Fetish were the ones who didnt pay…a real shame for Steve as he is so pasionate about Enduro racing.
Hopefully we will see Steve racing himself next season.
Enduro is rad, and probably appeals to the average rider more than Xc or DH. I did a couple of rounds this year and I reckon it showed bike riding at its best. Thanks for everything Steve and good luck to whoever takes it on. The king is dead, long live the king…
love to have more single day enduros, more like the frost bite event as well, great day of riding/racing.
Enduro could be real big in this country as you can have one pretty much anywhere with a bit of a hill/woods. I like the idea about the one day events too, maybe they could be run by having one practice lap. Then 1 race lap just setting off when you like as they do at the irish ones.

news has just broke that the series will go ahead next yr, woop woop! get training fellas….
so glad its back on. I was buying a bike specifically for the purpose of doing the series next year and when I read it was cancelled I was more than a little gutted.
I can’t wait to horrendously timed in 2013
Great news! Even with a few timing issues the races have still been ace. It’s what I wanted MTB to be when I made the switch from Motocross back in 1991!
