Alan Milway beamed over this news about the Redditch facility which he reckons looks ideal for 4x riders as well as BMXers.

Last night saw the first open evening of the newly built Redditch BMX track. This midlands facility might be geared towards our 20inch siblings, but with the track and club having strong input from local lad Scott Beaumont it will certainly be a great training ground for 4x
racers- who at the moment mostly head down to Leamington Spa for gate practice or any sort of purpose built track.

The whole set up looks first class; surrounded by fencing, flood lit for winter riding and a dedicated club house for meeting, changing and eating it will surely host many a competition as well as attracting many a mid week rider.

The council arrived to have a snoop about, get a demo of the new gate in action and watch a lot of local riders circulate the track.
Although not open to the public just yet it was a chance for them to see riders in action and see the progress. It was only when a certain Martin Murray arrived with brother Stephens two little boys did things really get impressive- incredible to watch him manual entire technical sections. Stephen Murrays boys were both getting stuck in too and it was great to see them so keen on riding their bikes with ‘Uncle Martin’.

Stay Strong Stephen Murray.

P.S Incase you’re wondering where Scott Beaumont was at Leogang, well he is recovering from ligament damage sustained in a 4x crash in Maribor and is undergoing physio at Birmingham City football club. I would say ‘intensive’ but Scott has had to ask them to ‘stop tickling and really work on it’! He’s able to spin the pedals but not get the power down at the moment.

Last weekend was a good weekend to be sat on the sofa out injured with MotoGP, Motocross GP, World Cup football and freecasters Leogang footage to watch, but it looks like he’ll be back in action and fully fit for Val di Sol World Cup round.

  1. Great to see pictures which looks to provide facilities to develop the youngsters coming through!! I hope some good quality coaches get appointed (not only for the established athletes, but future prospects) to learn from and get better!!

  2. Looking very tidy. Nice one!

  3. i wonder who the track builders are, mint job by the looks of it

  4. great to hear about Murray and his kiddos. stay strong Murrays!

that’s a nice looking rythmn section in that pic.

  5. We’ll be having one of these in Birmingham soon at the old Perry Barr site along with skate park, dirt jumps n pump track.
Work starts August with the mound of dirt increasing by the day!

  6. looks top, ill be paying a visit. BMX tracks are exploding all over the place at the moment with Birmingham’s one getting under way soon and some others in the Mildands due to be started i believe. good time for 4x and BMX alike!

  7. Now just need some more good 4X tracks to be built north of Brum and we’ll all be happy!
Hereford has a new bmx track too. Council effort that is pretty damn good so I’m told. Need to check it out soon

  8. looks like a rider owned company, even better

  9. From experience most council tracks end up pretty dire, sure there are exceptions though! Any good track needs to be built by riders/or rider owned companies; real people who actually ride bikes.

It also helps a lot when there is a dedicated club at the track to keep it in tip top condition.

Check out there other tracks on biketrack.org website, look damn good!

  10. Herefords track was built by clark and kent and is open to public now although the gate isnt working yet thanks to a tech issue.

  11. Fantastic. Last time I raced reditch was in 1982 at the halords Anglo-American . Awsome then and awsome looking now. I’m nearly 30 years off the pace but remember early 80s glory days so well. Great times. Got three little guys of my own now and would love to get them riding. Maybe avisit to reditch would be the thing. Hopefully the chemical porta-loos have been upgraded. Congrats to all involved.
