You will find all sorts of tracks here in Hafjell but the World Cup track has a bit of everything in it and that´s pretty awesome.
You get a couple of jumps straight out of the startgate...
...with quite a big hip before you head into the first wood section.
You get fast open sections as well as technical stuff like this steep and gnarly rock garden.
On some parts the riders have to choose from multiple possible lines ...
...on others there is just one. In short: a proper World Cup Finals track that looks like a lot of fun.
The racing action also already started today with a special Staff Race sponsored by Vital for all the people who usually don´t get the chance to ride their bikes during a World Cup weekend: the media guys, the mechanics, the officials and organisers.
DirtTV´s John Parkin pinning it through one of the rock sections of the actual World Cup track.
His brother Rob was flying down the track with Giant factory support, but unfortunately the timing didn't work properly for his run.
Irish filmer legend John Lawlor on track.
UCI´s technical delegate Chris Ball was flat out on his 29er and going for a top spot.
After crossing the finish line you still had to empty a can of beer first before the clock was stopped.
In the end top-snapper Sven Martin took home the win with the fastest time today, followed by Nigel Page - represented by Mono on the left - and Chris Ball on the right. Thanks for a fun race.
Great to see this side of the world cup. Cant wait for the big guns now.
aaah i’d love to see some footage of the staff race!
They should have made the racers film it, play course marshal and run the timing!
