The summer race season is over and young riders are on the look out for some form of sponsorship to help them pursue their dreams!
Here’s a look at Charlotte Hughes.
Name: Charlotte Hughes.
Age: 17.
Where do you live? Oswestry in Shropshire.
What bikes to you ride? Trek session 8 2010 for DH and Specialized Myka pro for XC.
How long have you been riding? About 3 years.
When was the last time you crashed? At the Pleney in the summer I went over the bars and landed on a fallen tree on my throat and sounded like a man for days!
What riders do you look up to? Rachel Atherton, Peaty, Cedric Gracia is such a legend and of course all of the guys I ride with who are hilairious and have been so kind letting me tag along to their uplifts every weekend.
What are your future plans? Another season out in Morzine next summer and hopefully race IXS cups, the mega and maybe some bigger races etc. followed by a ski season in Val D’isere. I would love to race world cups soon. As for an actual job when I’m a grown up, I’d like to work for MI6.
Tell us one interesting fact about you? I play guitar, badly.
Where do you usually ride? There’s loads of stuff around here but my favourite tracks are Llangollen and the Wobbler.
Where will you be in a years time? France I hope! I would love to be on the World Cup circuit by then and I’m going to work very hard to make sure I get there. I should probably go to Uni but right now I’m not interested.

I recognized Charlotte from the photo above, she was riding at the Les Gets jump park the same day as me any my buddy. She showed him up as he was too scared to hit the berm gap and she just nailed it. The guy who was taking photos of us on the day looked at her and then gave my mate this “Well come on, you wussy” look!
Any race results?
Getting a sponsor must be a hard thing to do and props to anyone out there who is looking for one and got one, but if i was a sponsor i would be looking for race results or something that makes me stand out from the crowd so that at least i (the Sponsor) get something out of it as well.
Sponsoring new talent is a good way to go and i am all for it, if the sponsor sees potential in a young rider and feels they can help them develop as well, this is also great but riding a few corners in France on a bike park isn’t going to get you one in my eyes, but i hope she does and proves me wrong.

Aha, don’t be shy about those race results, shout about them! You have won your category in the majority of races you have entered and never finished off the podium in your category, get it in the blurb in bold and capital letters! Good luck!
I think you should be looking at getting a solid UK sponsor for the winter’s racing and into next year’s domestic season. Hopefully get some Women’s category wins and start aiming for the 2014 WC season…

ive seen tons of girls riding these jumps and tracks in les gets this season. i think there is a girls riding club there. nothing special. step it up if you want to be sponsored!
Rye, Charlotte is a brilliant racer it’s not fair to comment based on a few photos. Look at not only her race results but the races she takes part in. She’s a great rider with a lot of talent and dedication. And any rider that can pin it down the Llangollen tracks, Rhyd-y-Felin and Fort Bill with speed and style is worth paying attention too.
