Stolen Bikes: 2005 Giant Reign from Edinburgh
Thieving scumbags have stolen Owen Williams’ Giant Reign 2 and Specialized Allez from his house in South Queensferry, Edinburgh on Sunday night, 20th January.
The Allez roadbike was Owen’s transport to work and the Reign was his occasional weekend-warrior joy machine (being a father of two young kiddies).
Owen says he needs to replace the racer but can’t afford to replace the mountain bike (like for like) so is trying everything to get some leads and track down the Giant Reign.
The bikes might be stripped down now and scattered as parts on Ebay, but keep an eye out and let us know in the comments if you see anything.
And if anyone has any good tips about what to do if you spot your stolen bike on Ebay then let us know in the comments. I know informing the police is key but often the bike has been sold before they act.

I think it would be highly unlikely that i manged to spot your stolen bikes and I’m worried about pointing the finger but found this reign frame, you should have a look http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/giant-reign-mountain-bike-frame-/190786522407?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item2c6bc34d27
John, your post is totally irresponsible. Posting a link to a random frame on ebay that is clearly not the frame in the article is just stupid.
If you do see your bike on ebay, you have two options.
1) ring the guy, tell him you want to buy it, arrange to meet and pay cash. Then ring the police stating that you are going to get your stolen property back (by force if necessary). They should send a bobby to go with you and get your stuff back.
2)Call the guy and arrange to buy the bike for cash. If hes proper dodgy he won’t want you coming to his house. Get a bunch of your mates, arm yourself with big stick or similar, then hide all your mates in the back of your van. Meet the guy, ask for a quick spin on the bike to test it, take it to the back of your van and load it up. If gets a bit aggro, introduce him to your mates who are all tooled up in the back (preferably wearing scary, black balaclavas).
I prefer option 2, but you need a van and mates.
Oz, are you even paying attention??
yes i understand that it is very unlikely to be his frame (as I previously expressed) but it is a lot like the bike being described and has been posted on ebay recently. And its common for bikes to be stripped down before people try to seal it on.
Also this is not irresponsible, we’re all adults here (I do wander at times though) and this is the only way I have to get in contact with this person who has lost their bike. If I had a way of contacting him with out posting publicly I would have done so. This is just a way of him telling him that is out there and he should check, just in case and go forward from there. It’s better then me having seen this, not making an attempt to help and it turning out to be his stolen bike (however unlikely).
And for you to call me irresponsible and then talk about going to meet a stranger armed with a gang of friends to get it( although I would do this if my bike was stolen as a last resort) but to suggest it is in anyway responsible or recommended is laughable.
Why post a link to the wrong frame? Might as well not post at all. I can say with 100% certainty that it is not the stolen frame…unless the thief decided to take it to Nottingham from Edinburgh, then go at it with some coarse sandpaper and a hammer (see dent on driveside seatstay) to create the illusion of the frame being a ‘well used’ example, therefore reducing it’s value, before listing it on eBay.

Have you checked out Edinburgh gumtree?
Edinburgh is absolutely rife for theft. Had my Supermoto stolen last year. I spent a long time trying to find it and some idiot eventually put it on Gumtree 3 months later spray painted yellow. Head down to Niddrie. Thats where they usually show up. Scum bags, hope you get sorted. When looking, don’t go alone!

Is this the very one??? Matches description and is in Edinburgh!
