Dont know the full situation here, so correct me if im wrong, but why would you have that lot in a shed?????? My one bike is in the house, no shed is ever guna be enough to stop thieves in my mind.
cant believe they stole a brown kona.
What planet are you on? Storing bikes inside a shed in this day & age, in the UK? I’m going for a high level of dumbassness or an insurance stunt.
Well I suppose there’s sheds and there’s sheds. It might have been a concrete block “shed” or a steel framed “shed” but I know the word “shed” conjures up the image of a flimsy tongue and groove lapped pine common garden shed. But whatever some sort of chain like this would have helped http://dirt.mpora.com/news/fresh-produce-pragmasis-security-products.html
Actually guys it doesn’t matter about where they were, they were in a safe location of the property and were securely locked up inside. negative comments aren’t that helpful at this time.
wow your a knob ‘yeahright’
@Olly, locked up doesn’t matter sadly, if they want them they will have them and a lock wont take lock to cut through…
The main thing i have noticed from around us if they had been riding trial centers and they follow you home, next few nights they are gone
still cant believe its happening in the village surrounded by riding…makes you wonder if they will try it again.
I’ve seen so many people at forest of dean who clearly are not your usual riders on what blatently look like stolen bikes, don’t want to stereotype but no helmets, reeboks tracksuits and gold chain are not your normal riding style for downhillers!!! I feel for you Olly, i’m getting my new bike today and will not be advertising it at all, i really hope everyone looks out for them, i certainly will, as for calling you stupid for leaving them in a shed, if these pikeys want them, they’ll take them no matter where they are, Whitby has his stolen from inside the house, they took a window out i think, it’s the police who need to step it up!
I had 4 bikes nicked just after Xmas. I was targeted. I know, because the garage next to mine was not tampered with. My theory is that it was someone in an online bike shop warehouse that saw a £3000 bike get sent to an address and then keeps the address, ready for them or their scummy mates to nick. I live in a cup-de-sac and don’t ride out of my Home address, always drive to riding spots.
We need to start putting pressure on the police to stop this, they don give a ‘f’ tbh. I had 7 grands worth knicked one year, few days later a kid turns up at halfords with my air shock, marzocchi’s 888′s etc on his bike, clearly mine cos they still had my stickers on them, i collared them, police turn up, kids dad produces a fake receipt and police tell me, ME ! that i have no evidence, useless beyond belief! next year, i get replacement bike knicked, since then weve moved but ive heard that the guy who bought our house had his bike knicked, whoevers doing it is local and thinks i’m still there so targeting the house each year. 7 grand’s worth and police dont even care, i’m still sooooo mad about it 4 years on!!! feel for you buddy
Agree that if people want the bikes, nothing is going to stop them. And keeping them in a house doesnt guarantee safety either – ever heard of ‘burglary’.
Negative comments dont help. Id be gutted if i lost mine and want people to help. Apparently the current trend is for parts as frames are too hard to shift meaning if you bolt your frame to the floor they will happily saw it in half.
Feel for you Olly, thats a right s hitter. Unfortunately there isn’t a right lot we can do about securing our bikes against theft. If a theif knows there is one on the premises and they want it, they will most likely get it. I think being followed home from a trail centre is a big issue, but I am a firm believer in never leaving my bike on show when it is at home. I am lucky enough to have a secure alarmed vaulted celler that I can keep the bikes in, but i still have a hardened security anchor bolted 160mm into the concrete, and a 10mm dia boron steel chain with Cat 1 Yale padlock securing it. Best thing to do? Make sure it is secure, take pictures of it being secure and pictures of the bike catalogueing every component. Then get it insured. That way if anything does happen, it is covered and the police will have to listen.
Hope you get your bikes back dude.
Cheers guys appreciate all the comments, and thanks for all the advice, all very helpful. Am going to make sure that they are locked up enough for the buggers to be caught if they strike again!
Here in Santa Cruz, I once had a bike stolen from behind my workplace that was locked up with two U locks and an armored cable lock. Nothing will stop them. Except me if I ever catch them.
Check this out. My friend Iggy got his back.

This sucks, hope you get your bikes back soon
Bit surprised at some of the negative comments. Someone’s had his bikes nicked. F##k’s sake, it could happen to any one of us. Chances are, looking at them, were not talking about a f##king plywood 6×4 shed here. Sorry to hear about this mate, hope you get a bit of luck and they reappear
Useful tip, Install motion censors with quite alarm to mobile phone/house and get yourself a very nice baseball bat.
north nibley is a small quite village in the cotsworld hills so either someone local nicked them or they followed him home from the local trails there.
sorry ment to say any one of us could be followed home after riding our bikes, if they want it they will get it where every you keep it, becuase in UK the police see it as wasted paperwork as if it goes to court judges see it as petty theift and they only give community service which is a joke.
