Val d'Isère World Cup helmet cam
I’m not 100% sure if this is the exact track that will be used for the Val d’Isère WC race, but it seems to match up closely to the official course map!
Val d’Isère in France hosts the penultimate round of the 2012 World Cup on the 28th/29th July. If this helmet cam (which was filmed last year) is the WC track then it’s going to be fast, steep, out in the open, off camber, rocky and around the 3 minute mark.
The maps below state the track is 1.38 km long with a vertical drop of 365m.
Coupe de France VTT DH SUBARU 2011 à Val d’Isère

Looks pretty good! The drop around 1.30 looks nice and dodgy. The section around 3.10 onwards looks pretty sweet too. Overall it looks like a track where Gwin will win by a considerable margin… Oh wait, that’s all the tracks…
that face in incredibly steep, they race the wc dh skiing down it. can’t wait to see it hart will be on it.
This track’s got “SAM HILL” written all over it…
If Sam Hill will ever win a world cup again this will be it! Fuckin awesome track by the looks of it. Hope it doesn’t rain though..
La Face de Bellevarde is a rather steep black run in the winter, and the world cup track appears to come down alongside it. Should be fun!
That drop on the right over the red construction is insane! It’s also the only thing he didn’t ride
this track looks like its from 1992
My Moneys on Pascal. Not really but, Sams gonna smash it
Here’s another video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhekiVt4TY0 Looks steep, loose and fast! Cant wait to see the top guys tear down it!
Wow that track is exposed, if there’s any weather it will be carnage… excellent.
Lots of inadvertently retro kit being sported on those videos eh.
could do with a big seat snapper at the finish !!
Nice! Looks like a classic french/swiss alps track
I thought I was going to be so insightful by suggesting that Sam Hill would be all over this one. Seems everyone else is equally insightful! Bugger!!
What I’m liking this year is the range of course types in the World Cup. If you are going to win the overall, you’ve got to be consistent on all terrains. We’ve got everything from PMB through to retro Courses like this one.
Isn’t the course in Norway supposed to be totally bat shit crazy, to round off the series?
the dog’s danglers
hart ftw!
how do euros manage to look so freaking euro
woaw!! savage! looks awesum!
reminded me of no fear DH mtb video game lol
That looks like epic fun
Sam Hill’s own
Dodgy chain devices welcome. Pedalling not reqd ! Love it.
Spagnolo has to be a favourite here, SAM DANNY OR GEE FTW THOUGH PLEASE !
one good thing about this hill and the lack of trees, the coverage will be bloody good and about time.
Would love to see Fabien come back for this.
This has BROOK and SAM written all over it.
Gwin will have it in the bag again for sure.
Some pictures of the work we’ve just finish yesterday, asap…
The track’s gonna be more direct, less turn, more speed… And steep!
