Victor's 7-a-day: Champery World's pre-race selection

8 comments 10:30AM Sun, 4th September 2011

The excitement and drama of the Worlds has begun!!! Check out Victor’s seven a day on the morning of the big race.

Troy Brosnan got his two practice runs in early this morning, on a track slick from yesterdays rain. He is feeling confident and certainly happy not to be last junior in the start hut.
Rachel Atherton is in good spirits this morning, flat pedals and a solid breakfast should make for a good race run.
Its 11am on raceday, and reliable as a Swiss Cuckoo Clock, the rain has just started dumping down. Today's race will be all about the dangermen, those willing to hang it out and risk it all for one run. Sam Hill is certainly one of those. In the wet, when the line choices get more creative, he is certainly the guy who could turn things on its head.
Another danger-man that has been maybe under the radar this season - the rain is certainly going to favour the loose-goose skills of Brendan Fairclough. He has a chance to do something amazing today.
Yesterday's practice session was dry, and as Peaty says, it was a very different course than what the top riders will see later this afternoon after a couple hundred riders and a few hours of heavy rain.
This weeks World Champs mystery rider slides out on one of the gazillion tricky corners. Who is it? Correct answer will receive an autographed copy of Billy's world famous cheeze sandwich recipes.
With Floriane Pugin suffering with an injured hand, Emmeline Ragot has got to be one of the favourites today. Has she got the strength to power through the power sapping conditions?
