Victor's Windham Final 10-a-day

Tracy Moseley was on great form this week, she was looking positive and it showed in her race run. Steady with very few mistakes she finished 2nd and jumped up to 3rd in the overall.

Emmeline Ragot took 3rd today, and a 2nd in the series. For sure now she will be focused on holding onto her Rainbow jersey next week.

Sabrina Jonnier admits she didn't have a great race this week, although her 8th place was still enough to keep the overall series lead. She always says that longer courses suit her, so maybe next week she will be happy with the epic that is Mont St Anne.

Rachel Atherton has had a tough time with injury this year, either her own recurring shoulder problems or the disastrous crash that her brother Dan has been lucky to survive. But she overcame all this today and put in a stunning run to win by 1.36sec. A solid result which should give he confidence a big boost.

Marc Beaumont took 6th today and snuck his way onto the 5th step of the overall podium. Good stuff from Slugger.

The US crowds turned up to back their national champ Aaron Gwin in a big way this Sunday. They screamed, whooped, rang bells and blew vuvuzellas for all they were worth. Gwinny gave it everything too and took a 4th in the race and a 4th overall. He looked pretty pleased to be on a podium in his home country.

Sam Blenkinsop hammered his way through this rock garden on a mission to destroy this course. He ended up third in the race and third in the overall series.

After his practice crash and what could have been a difficult elbow injury to cope with, Greg Minnaar didn't look anything was holding him back today. He had a solid clean run, but ended up just .37sec behind Gee.

Gee Atherton raced in the leaders jersey today after taking the lead in Val di Sole. But he said he didn't feel the pressure to much as there were 4 riders left to start their runs after him. Gee had a good run and the big result just depended on what Greg could do. When Gregs time was slower, Gee knew he had the overall.

Steve Peat had this race in the bag, after qualifying first and looking really comfortable in practice, Peaty was fastest at the speed trap and quickest at the first 2 split times by over 1 second. Then disaster as he came into sight of the finish and had a massive crash on the steep drop in. He rode in to a low 55th finish but was lucky to escape in one piece. The only silver lining to this is that he will have some fury in the tank when it comes to World Champs in 7 days time.

So tomorrow we hit the road for Mont St Anne and the World Champs. It will be a long boring drive, but luckily our hire car comes with all manner of high-tech accessories and in-car entertainment. Most important is 'The nut roaster' game, or what is usually known as the heated seat. Of course the Air-Con is normally more appropriate in the 30degree weather we are having, but it's a great old laugh to turn on your travelling partners heated seat when they aren't looking or even better asleep, and watch as they slowly start to squirm as the eggs reach scrambling temperature...
