Video: Nathan Rennie Talks
There was a lot of talk about why Nathan Rennie disappeared from the World Cup circuit, but now a few years later he’s setting the record straight in this excellent straight talking interview…
In the first half of the video we get to see Rennie being truly open about his racing past, and the challenges that he faced when the glory days came to an end. It’s a great insight into the life of a racer, a bed of roses on the one hand, but then warts and all on the other. The second half of the video is more of an advert for the training camps that he’s now running, but there’s still a few nuggets in there. Overall though it’s great to see that the big man is still loving to ride, and the fact that he’s now passing on his wealth of information to other riders shows that it hasn’t all gone to waste like many suspected it had. There will only ever be one Rennie.

he look like a 40 year old
F’kin legend. Gid interview.
good man rennie…
What a Legend – Good to see him back on track!
I forget which NWD film it is, but there is an absolutely devastating segment with him on an enormous tow in booter soundtracked to Damageplan. Its glorious.
Get the tash and siddys back ronnie.
EXTREME CLOSEUP!!!
wow hes put weight on
Hope it works out for Renoir. Watching him ‘in the day’ was like watching a (semi) controlled explosion on a bicycle!
The anorexics with the skinny jeans can keep quiet, this guy is a powerhouse and a legend!
Real legend! Wish he’d get the Lemmy moustache going again though.
Best of luck Rennie, you’re a legend!
Is it me or we learn almost nothing… Part of it is a publicity stunt for his camps, 5.10 and Santa Cruz. BTW, he didn’t “re-invent” the 5.10s, a thread on Ridemonkey and some effort from certain guys (Bizutch) made 5.10 fabricate the shoe again. He did have a small impact, but not as big as he is saying.
oldnshit.. you dont have to be anorexic or wear girls jeans to notice someone that was stocky put more weight on.. theres no way he trains now like he used to otherwise he’d look the same. its an observation thats all.. not an insult to him.. hes a great rider
love the honesty in this video.
hahahaha Non bike related incident….i bet he smashed someones face!!! WHAT A MAN!!!!
always struck me as a guy who just loved riding, and a genuine asset to the world cup. Not enough Rennie’s racing these days at the top level. Wish him luck.
quality vid. funny how we don’t really appreciate something truly until it’s no longer around…Big Up Renoir…all the best mate…
Like the sound of the bike camps looks like it works out about £1250 which seems pretty decent for 6 days lift passes, heli drop, coaching, food, accomodation etc! Best get saving!
respect fathead!
this boy seb,yes it is just you,u prick,ur one of these boys who nobody wants 2 ride with,so what if part of it is a promotion for his camps the mans just tryin 2 make a living for himself, whats wrong with that, big up rennie..
What “the goat” said!!!
Renoir has earned the right to plug!
Being given the Opportunity to ride the some best trails in the southern hemisphere (Queenstown) with a tried and true “Legend” that can help improve the way you ride and help you maximise your fun levels is definitely a good thing in my books. Nathan ,IT IS ALL GOOD BRO !!!
Legend! reading about this guy and watching his sections in the earthed dvds always an inspiration! flat pedal thunder! good luck
Used to love watching him ride – mad skills, seems like a down to earth bloke too. Hope it all works out for him.
who cares if it’s a massive promo – good to hear it all and the other stuff. I wish him all the best I really do, and hey, who wouldn’t like to go out there for a camp with someone like him.
I really enjoyed that. His training camps sound pretty amazing, good luck to him.
Seb, (who Goat, is far from a prick BTW) although what you are saying about his hazy (un “internet geek” informed perhaps?) memory of the 5:10 situation is true you’ve completely missed out the fact there was a new breed of flat pedal DH racers back then (among these were those Ridemonkey members) who did almost anything to get hold of the Intense shoes they’d seen/heard of both Kovarik and Renoir wearing (while destroying corners the way to this day, only they could ) BEFORE 5:10 impacts had ever been thought of. Folk I knew were buying 2 or 3 pairs at twice the price of new skate shoes when they heard they were being discontinued.
before Rennie and Kovarik the only flat pedal riders doing any good at that level we had were Pascal in any old skate shoes with massive bolts through his pedals keeping them pointing at ten to two, Warner riding on his heels in Vans/Etnies, followed by Palmer (who coppied Cully in stupidly thin waffle sole Vans and not forgetting Ponting in the good old brit favourite Adidas Samba football trainers..
Holy Shit – 2080 WATTS – that is insane!
