We got a brand spanking new Mpora video player!
Dave the Electrician and the lads have been busy wiring up a beast of a new video machine that brings the sensation of watching epic edits to a giddy new level!
You’ve probably noticed it already but we’re bringing in an all-singing, all-dancing, all-going-to-the-bar-for-more-drinks new Mpora video player.
It’s got some bonkers new features plumbed in like a Slo Mo button which means you can now watch the DirtTV BigRed slo mo shots even slower!
Dave has also glued on a 3 second rewind button to watch that roosty drift/whip/crash over and over again.
There’s tons more stuff so the best thing is if you just have a mess about on it and see what you think.
Remember though we’re still in testing mode, so if anything doesn’t quite work properly then let Dave and the crew know via the feedback button below the player.

The player does not work if your browser does not accept cookies… BOO! BOO!
Thanks BiscuitMonkey, will pass that on to Dave and his crew.
I liked the ability in the old player to scroll along the buffer bar of the video and see the time come up to find a specific part of a video to watch, now you have to click to see the time.. Just thought id let you know. Other than this all is working well. Player so far seems far superior than other MTB websites.
Thanks for sorting out the HD button properly, so annoying when it use to have to load up another page for HD
sound is rather digital: either on or off. no choice of adjusting it in the player.
On my android phone (samsung galaxy s3) I cant full screen because the full screen button is formatted off the side of the screen and i cant get to it.
Like the new player. Good to see the volume slider sorted out
On my linux work machine I can not access the new videos. Actually I think it has more to do with Mpora, the site doesnt load at all. Weird.
wheres the volume control? most vids are overly loud
i like how you understand that when you see an insane jump, drift, crash, corner or maneuver that we wanna see it over and over and slow mo. cool guys. i do see John colthorpes point though.
a download feature would be amazing!
@CookieMonkey: The cookie issues should be fixed now.
@John Colthorpe: Thanks for the kind words, we have taken note of your timeline points, we have some exciting plans along these lines so watch this space. One advantage here is that in the new player you can skip ahead past where you have buffered which wasn’t possible in the old player.
@Capricorn: hover your mouse over the volume button and you should see a slider appear for full volume control.
@kevin: We have fixed the android sizing issue. We will be adding a fullscreen control for mobile by the end of the day.
@Eoin: I’d love to help you out. If you send a report using the feedback link in the player then we can discuss this further.
@Mike: There is a full volume control in the player. We are working on adding volume controls to advertising soon.
Thanks for all the feedback gents!
The player is built in Flash? Really? Even Flash’s manufacturers have abandoned Flash for mobile, and mobile is where everyone is going. Even the porn industry is ditching Flash, and this is bike porn, right?
Yes, Android devices play Flash and Apple devices don’t, but why cut off a large part of your audience (ie advertising revenue?). I have to really really really want to see a clip before I’ll bother to fire up the laptop these days. There are Flash players available for Apple devices but you want to keep viewers eyes on your website, not flipping back and forth between apps.
@Geoff: the new player isn’t Flash based but does have a flash fallback for users of older browsers. We have some technical issues with some embedded videos playing on iPhone right now but hope to have them resolved over the next few days. As a temporary solution watching the same video directly on mpora should work. My apologies.
I have an important question! Back in the old days (gramophones, Bakelite and “moving pictures”…) did they really advertise products with a silhouette of a smarmy pipe smoking chap hovering above the product image?
Where does this cliché come from? Would anyone have reckoned that that would help their sales – “look how self-satisfied you’ll be if you buy our product”?!
