After nearly freezing all the riders in the first episode we only felt it would be fair to start day two at Mojo HQ. The riders got chance to enjoy the fresh coffee and warmth for the morning whilst getting a hands on lesson involving some fork maintenance with Aimee Dix, fork technician at Mojo Suspension.

We were lucky enough to have none other than trials legend Martyn Ashton along for the day. Martyn is a real character with some serious bike skill as many of you have probably witnessed in his latest jaw dropping video ‘Road Bike Party‘; But this would be the first time in a long while that he has got to ride a conventional trail bike that had only recently been lent to him by the guys at Hope Technology. After watching him hop around and do things that most of us average riders could only dream of you would of thought he had been riding this bike all his life!

After the guys got an insight to what Mojo do on a daily basis their jumped on their bikes and literally rode out from the door of Mojo HQ. Aimee took the guys on her lunch time ride and put them through their paces.

This would be the first time the Trail Diary has had such a variation of different riders along for the trip. A world cup downhiller, a pro dirt jumper and a legendary trials rider all riding the same trail on similar bikes really enjoying the simpler side of riding.

After a bit of lunch we headed to a local spot that really showed the versatility between the rider’s skills, from Tracy’s unbelievable pace and flow to Blake’s fearless approach to boosting big doubles and then Martyn’s precise trials skills, riding skinny logs and bridges; And not to forget all this was being done on a standard trail bike with 5 – 6 inches of suspension!

As the day came to an end Blake was keen to trick a road gap he had spotted whilst riding to another section earlier in the day, it was strange seeing him X-UP over the road with his hydration pack on and mudguard in place. A perfect way to end the day!

Not only did this year’s event cheat the ominous threat of bad weather, it also served up some of the best riding on one of the nicest courses that we’ve seen to date.

With Sam Pilgrim taking an early lead in his first run after throwing down a backflip off the step-down, many thought he’d sealed the victory before he’d really begun. Canada’s Brett Rheeder however, had other ideas, going huge on his final run to nail a 94.67 and secure the top spot in his first ever Gold FMB World Tour event. Rheeder is definitely one to watch.

All eyes were on the starting tower, when Brett Rheeder prepared for the last run of the day. Thus only the Canadian could grab the victory from Sam Pilgrim (GBR) who was leading at that stage. And the 20-year-old kept cool: With fantastic trick combinations like flipwhips and opposite flipwhips over the big kickers, he vowed the crowds at the iXS Dirt Masters-Festical in Winterberg and outplayed Sam Pilgrim for a narrow but deserved win at Red Bull Berg Line: “Yeah! This is my first win at a Gold Event of the FMB World Tour. I knew I had to give everything to beat Sam’s run and I’m glad I made it. ”

For Sam Pilgrim, the leader of the FMB World Tour ranking, remained only in second place despite a huge backflip from the starting drop or a flip no-hander over the first kicker. Third place was secured by 18-year old Swede Anton Thelander, who thrilled the crowd with an impressive flatspin over the big kicker. For Anton, who made it to Red Bull Berg Line through a wildcard at Vienna Air King, this is the biggest success of his career.

Red Bull Berg Line was the final chance for riders to gain ranking points in order to qualify for the X Games Munich. For the first time in X Games history, there will be a mountain bike slopestyle contest. From 16 riders at X Games Munich 12 qualify through the 52 weeks seeding list. These are the Top-12 riders who have a guaranteed spot at X Games Munich.

In 2012 Whackjob came up with the idea of a collaborative mountain biking video shoot with multiple videographers contributing to one video that was better than anyone could have achieved alone. The first Whackjam at Chicksands, was a great success – but in 2013 we went bigger, better and hit Afan for a properly insane weekend of bikes and partying. Punta Ala, May 18 2013

Today the Enduro World Series kicked off at the second PRO race of the Superenduro powered by SRAM season. Everyone was waiting for this weekend, it was one of the most anticipated mountain bike races ever.

Before the race it was almost impossible to guess who would be victorious. With the level of the field, there were more than 30 riders all in with a real chance of winning.

Over the course of the four special stages French mountain bike legend, Fabien Barel (Canyon Factory Team), emerged as the winner. It was on the trail named Rock-Oh, the longest and most technical stage of the race, where he stamped his dominance, winning the Red Bull Time Rush in the process.

Winner of stage one, Jerome Clementz (Cannondale), pushed hard to catch him, but finished thirteen seconds behind his countryman. Third overall went to the former 4X specialist, Jared Graves (Yeti-Fox Factory Team). Narrowly missing out on a podium was sixteen year-old Martin Maes (GT Factory Racing) from Belgium, who will definitely be a talent to watch for the future.

With Barel, Clementz and Graves on the podium, there was a DH World Champion, a 4X World Champion and one of the world’s top enduro specialists. “I’m not surprised that there are riders on the podium from different disciplines because the enduro is about all of the mountain and that’s what we do every day!” said race winner, Fabien Barel.

“My legs hurt, my ass hurts, I’ve never eaten so much. Now beer and the beach! “The words of Cedric Gracia are the perfect place to end this weekend in Punta Ala.

EMBA advisor and former DH World Champion, Tracy Moseley (Trek Factory Racing), won ahead of the current DH World Champion, Emmeline Ragot (Lapierre International). Cecile Ravanel (GT Skoda) took the third spot. For the Supererenduro Powered By SRAM, Punta Ala was the weekend affirming everything we have workd towards.

The road taken six years ago turned out to be the right one. Enduro has become the discipline around which the world of mountain biking is rotating. Among the riders were different wheel sizes, prototypes and top secret electronic suspension we will see in the future.

Now we have a two-week break, before the circuit heads to Gemona for the third PRO race.

Superenduro is a new format for mountain biking competitions, based on the discipline commonly referred to as enduro or all-mountain riding. The future of bike production.

Charge Bikes have collaborated with EADS Innovation Works, the corporate research centre for the EADS group, to produce the world’s first 3D printed frame manufacturing components using a process currently being developed for the aerospace industry.

In this video, Charge’s Nick Larsen talks to Andy Hawkins from EADS, about this revolutionary complex process and it’s benefits over traditional fabrication methods.

Expect to see the first production Charge bikes with this technology in the near future.

Something tells me these CG edits are going to be bloody great!

Life’s a beach for Dirt Magazine’s Steve Jones as he talks us through what to expect from round #1 of the Enduro World Series at Punta Ala, Italy.

With a start list containing more World Champions and World Cup Champions than probably any other race before, the race on Sunday promises to be an epic affair.

Part one of Antidote is now live! In this first part of the film we show you the pace and difficulty of a world cup season and then catch up with one of the most talented riders in the world, Brendan Fairclough and see what he gets up to in the off season. He rides some short travel, some DH, and as ever sends some big whips.

We then head west to Wales and catch up with new young gun Taylor Vernon who has signed with GT this season and Rich Thomas, who as well as racing world cups and riding semi professionally also holds down a full time job.
