Dirt 100 2010: SHIMANO SLX CHAINSET
February 6th, 2010 @ 9:30 AM
This is a beautifully engineered chainset at a great price point, it makes full use of the developments in Shimano’s top end chainsets of XT and XTR over the past years, but at a price point that is affordable to most. Featuring Hollowtech 2 technology, which keeps the weight down and increases stiffness, and steel pedal inserts that help to ensure the durability of the chainset. The SLX’s are offered as a triple chainset or as a double with 22/36 rings and a bash guard, which is a great set up for trail bikes. We really can’t pick any flaws with the SLX chainset.

no flaws?
here’s two: they’re not available in 165mm length and there isn’t a single ring version with no granny ring tabs.

If they offered it in 165mm & single ring options, alot of people would think twice about going for a Saint crank. Shimano aren’t daft.

The double is also a different crank than the triple.

its still a bargain…currently running the triple version on my trail bike and loving it.

Bones McCrackin is right, so choose carefully!
The double ring/ bash version comes with steel pedal inserts, the triple version without.
Some of the best crank sets, at its price point the very best, ride it on my 4x.
